The 2008 Mayor’s Back to School Fair on August 7, 2008
The 2008 Mayor’s Back to School Fair is set for August 7 at Fair Park’s Automobile and Centennial Hall Buildings!
For more information or to obtain a volunteer application: log on to: www.mayorsbacktoschoolfair.com
Volunteers – We have over 400 volunteers signed up and ready to go! Our goal is 750, we are almost there, but you still have time to sign up through Friday, July 25. We have shifts that will fit everyone’s schedule. City employees must take comp time or vacation days to volunteer – and get approval from their supervisor
Pre-registered families – we have over 3,000 families pre-registered (and our big advertising push has not even started yet). We are tracking to have more than 70% of participating families pre-registered before the day of the Fair (about 10,500 families)
To qualify, recipients must be Dallas residents whose families meet the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines. Families must provide proof of income, picture identification and proof of residency. Due to the large number of participants in the Mayor’s “Back-to-School” Fair, residents are encouraged to pre-register for the free school supplies.
Super-Sign-up registration opportunities will take place at:
Participating MetroPCS and Wal-Mart store locations (see attached flyers for dates and times)
The Women’s Museum July 31 – August 2
Inspiring Body of Christ Church – Sunday, July 27 (Pastor Rush will also make the announcement via his Sunday morning broadcast on KKDA K-104FM)
More churches to be announced next week!
Sponsors – we have doubled the number of participating providers and sponsors!
