- First, find out who among your neighbors and fellow community members would be interested in getting involved.
- Second, inform your local police station that you have a group of people who would be interested in forming a crime watch group. The person you should contact in the SW Patrol Division (what all of WOC is in) is Officer Nancy Skinner. Her phone number is (214) 670-6795. She would be happy to help you set up your neighborhood crime watch.
- Third, elect officers for your group. It's important to have organization and chain of command within your group so that everyone is aware of the what they are responsible for.
- Fourth, set a meeting date and invite a police officer to your monthly or bi-weekly meeting. This step is important because it keeps the police department informed of the issues and concerns in your neighborhood and can be used to prevent crime as well as catch criminals that are targeting your community.
For more detailed information, please contact Officer Skinner or your local police division. (http://www.dallaspolice.net/index.cfm?page_ID=2317&subnav=51).
